Psychotherapy

Who?

I am an integrative psychotherapist who is warm and relational, bringing curiosity and creativity to working with you. I facilitate clients to discover the resources inside them to move through life's struggles with ease. You are maybe feeling stuck, anxious or restricted in your current situation. You have done well with your life but struggle to find ease in your self and your relationships and are looking to connect to your life in a new way. I provide a safe space for you to reconnect to your inner capacity to live the life you choose with understanding and vitality.

What?

Difficult, painful, or confusing experiences can feel hard to make sense of alone, so having space to explore them in new ways and perspectives can help process and digest what is happening. As an integrative therapist I draw on a range of approaches to support you including Humanistic and psychodynamic theory, Gestalt therapy, somatic and creative approaches to working with mind and body - you are unique, so your sessions are unique to you. We may use talking therapy to help find out more about you, understand your story and how it is affecting you, we may also use a creative approach, working with imagery to explore and express feelings and see situations that you perhaps don't yet have a clear picture about or words for. We can also work with your body to help process and understand your experience. Finding understanding and making meaning together, I offer a calm space for you to be re connected with curiosity and creativity and a revitalised relationship to yourself and the world.

Why?

The therapeutic space can allow you to find your way through. Your body and mind can access, feel and process stored emotions and experiences, instead of relying solely on the familiar patterns of relationship, thinking or behaviour that leave you feeling stuck and no longer serve the whole of you. Working together with another person in a safe confidential space at a regular time will allow you room to discover your potential for growth and acceptance of your unique self.

Embodied tools to support you in your psychotherapeutic journey.

  • What is it like to work with me?...

    “Quiet stability.

Connecting the dots of what I'm thinking without me having to say a thing.

Understanding  what I'm feeling without me having to spell it out or elaborate on it.

A great ability to settle into comfortable silence…the capacity to do all of that with such literal STYLE.” K.R

  • Seriously playful, kind company on the existential journey...

    “Joyous, enriching, playful” S.C

“Grounding, creative, body-based exploration and support with discomfort, dis-ease, uncertainty. Seriously playful, kind company on the existential journey” K.S

“Incredibly friendly, open and patient.  Questioning without being intrusive, and doing so in a kind way.  Not afraid to challenge.“ M.J

  • It has made me realise that I don’t necessarily have to change the way I feel...

“It has helped me to better acknowledge and understand how I feel, and how different emotions feel in my body. It has also helped me to recognise the kinds of expectations I bring into certain situations and helped me to let go of them more and just experience a moment for what it is, rather than what I want it to be (which is sometimes better / different in a good way). And it has made me realise that I don’t necessarily have to change the way I feel, and the idea that I have to be happy all the time is actually what causes a lot of negative feelings.” J.S

  • I cannot stress how grateful I am for taking that leap...

“I went to see Annie at a point in my life where i realised i needed to change things and really look inside at my thoughts and behaviours. Therapy was new to me and especially art therapy was a bit of a leap into the unknown.

I cannot stress how grateful I am for taking that leap. Annie supported me through two years of self discovery... the tears (and there were many), the aha moments and sharing joy. She slowed down my thinking as I try to rush past my issues and would encourage me to sit with the uncomfortable.

I came away from my time with Annie as a much more intuitive person, with greater understanding of my needs and my reasons for why i do what i do. Its very hard to change the habits of a lifetime but Annie set me on a path to being the me I want to be.

I cannot recommend Annie's services enough and can assure you,  your life will be improved from having her as your therapist. “

  • Sometimes just having space to work through the everyday can be so valuable...

“It’s okay if you don’t know what you want to talk about at therapy, and you don’t need to expect to talk about the most difficult things all the time. Sometimes just having space to work through the everyday can be so valuable, especially when you’re going through something difficult. Think of it as a safe space where you can do and say whatever you need.”

“Therapy has helped me to learn a huge amount about myself, how I approach situations and how I build relationships. It has helped me to move forward after bereavement and feel confident in staying well in the future.” CS

  • You make me feel "felt with” as opposed to being just understood...

“would come to you if i felt i was getting narrowed down in my options / approach / attitude, getting tied up in unconscious assumptions / rules and wanted to realign myself back into my own true values. Kind of opening back out into freedom, courage to follow my own way.”

“Your comforting humanness, transparency, willingness to be messy and let the world be messy - that willingness to ‘be with’ on the existential plain.  I like how you make me feel "felt with” as opposed to being just understood.” S.P
